Ashley Crossing Coalition Petition
The Ashley Crossing Coalition is about creating safe connections for pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers as we travel across the Ashley River.
I support the Ashley Crossing Coalition and the proposal to re-dedicate one of the four northbound Route 17 lanes over the Legare Bridge for the dedicated use of pedestrians and bicyclists. This link is a crucial connection and will be transformative for the safety and health of all citizens in the area. Retrofitting the northbound side provides bicycle and pedestrian capacity while keeping automobile capacity consistent with traffic useage, and matching the southbound bridge.
I support appropriate improvements to the James Island Connector; which could include lowering the speed limit and adding pavement markings and signage, or a barrier protected multi-use path.
All actions ensure comprehensive safety improvements to crossing the Ashley River.
The time is now to support cycling and pedestrian safety in our City!
